HFF Iconic Ionic from Have Fun with Fonts is a free condensed Didone-style serif with an unusually tall, formal silhouette. Strong vertical strokes are cut by very fine crossbars and needle-thin serifs. The severe width and repeated stroke contrast give the caps the look of engraved fashion lettering or architectural inscriptions.

Its neoclassical air makes it a convincing choice for fashion branding, gallery posters, and fragrance packaging. The narrow letters also suit theatrical programs. In editorial design, it can turn a magazine masthead or section opener into a column-like graphic element, linking the typography to architecture, couture, and other subjects built around proportion and refinement.

HFF Iconic Ionic is based on Moderna, from page 61 of the "Condensed Alphabets: 100 Complete Fonts" by Dan X. Solo, first published by Dover Publications in 1986. Moderna is also featured on page 7 of "The Solotype Catalog of 4,147 Display Typefaces".
