Licorice

Licorice, designed by Steve Palmer in 1998, is a free display font defined by a soft rectangular silhouette and broad curved corners that keep the lettering compact without feeling blunt. The repeated mix of rounded outer shapes and clipped inner turns gives it a measured, sign-like rhythm rather than a neutral geometric look.

That compact silhouette makes sense on posters, boutique packaging, mastheads, menu titles, and storefront graphics where short words need a calm but noticeable presence. Licorice also lends itself to album covers and branding for products that want a slightly offbeat, late-90s display texture instead of a plain sans serif.
